Matwork Instructor Course

Matwork Module 1

Beginner
Duration: 2 Days (12 hours)

This course teaches Pilates principles, history of Pilates and beginner level exercises. Participants also learn individual and group teaching strategies developed by Fitkon Academy.

Prerequisites: Although it’s not compulsory, before Level 1, Pilates Anatomy and Training Science & Principles courses are strongly recommended. These courses can also be taken online.

  • Basic principles of Fitkon Pilates
  • Beginner (Level 1) exercises
  • Effective communication and observation skills
  • Verbal and visual cueing techniques
  • Group class teaching methodology
  • Modifications for different postures and body types
  • Flex-Band, Arc barrel, Fitness Circle and softball variations
  • Objectives of the exercises, mechanics, working muscle groups and movement sequence

Matwork Module 2

Intermediate
Duration: 2 Days (12 hours)

In this course, you will improve your teaching skills, exercises programming for people with different posture and fitness levels.

You will expand your repertoire with intermediate level matwork exercises and improve private and group teaching skills.
Prerequisites: Matwork Level 1.

  • Intermediate Matwork exercises
  • Postural analysis and exercise development
  • Programming skills
  • Verbal and visual cueing techniques
  • Flex-Band, Arc barrel, Fitness Circle and softball variations
  • Objectives of the exercises, mechanics, working muscle groups and movement sequence

Advanced Matwork Workshop

Advanced
Duration: 1 Day (6 hours)

With this course, you will be able to design effective programs for advanced students and athletes. besides the advanced matwork exercises, high intensity Pilates power workout exercises are also shown for group classes.

Certification

At the end of each level course, participants will have Certificate of Completion credited. To have a Matwork Instructor Certificate, it is necessary to take a written and practical exam and be successful.
Exams & Fees
Before taking the Matwork Certification Exam you will need to complete:
  • Matwork Level 1, Matwork Level 2 Courses
  • Functional Anatomy and Training Science & Principles courses (These courses can also be taken online)
  • 30 hours of observation, 30 hours of physical practice, 20 hours of teaching
