We care about reinforcing the information you receive from Fitkon Academy courses and keeping it permanent. We want to help you become a solid instructor by providing feedback about your strengths and what you need to improve.

At the end of each Fitkon Academy course, you will receive a certificate of completion credited by American Council on Exercise (ACE). To have the ‘Instructor Certificate’ of any course, you must take the written and practical exam and be successful.

Those who have completed ‘Training Hours’ such as practice, observation, teaching can take the certificate exam by choosing one of the exam methods listed below.

  • Central Exam

    You can take an exam at one of the Fitkon Academy hosting centers on the specified dates.

  • Private Exam

    When you feel ready, you can set your own exam date without waiting for the central exam dates. Determine your date for the private exam by contacting us with 0090 532 666 59 02 or e-mail [email protected].

  • Online Exam

    If you are far from our training centers, you can take the exam online. If you are going to take an exam with equipment (eg Reformer Exam), you can go to any studio nearest you with someone who can be a student for you and take your exam.

Pilates Exams

You can take one of the exams below, or you can take a single exam at the end of the courses you take. For example, you have completed the Reformer course and you are planning to take another course within 6 months. In this case, instead of taking the Reformer exam alone, you can take a single exam with the new course and Reformer. Ex. Reformer & Cadillac exam.

Training Hours

Repeating what you have learned in the courses you attend ensures that the information is reinforced and permanent. You can complete the training hours at your workplace or by coming to Fitkon Academy Studios. Training hours must be completed before taking the exam.

Practical Hours

Refers to repeating the movements you learned in the courses. Repeating movements on your own body improves your cueing skills. You can complete these hours by taking class Fitkon Academy Master Trainer. You can also attend the class for course attendees at Fitkon Academy Host Centers.

Observation Hours

Watching Classes from different instructors helps to improve your teaching skills. You can go to a studio that has a Fitkon Academy certified instructor nearest you and watch the class. You can also watch videos from the Online Education section on Fitkon.com.

Teaching Hours

Start teaching what you have learned to improve your cueing skills! You can complete teaching hours with your classmates, family members or friends.

1. What kind of questions will I see in the written exam?

Pilates Exams

  • Functional Anatomy: Muscles, bones, anatomical planes, directions of motion, anatomical movements, types of contractions
  • Training Sciences: Defining fitness parameters and the acute variables to improve these parameters
  • Exercise programming
  • Fitkon Academy 5 Basic Principle: Breath, Neutral Pelvis, Neutral Spine, Balance of Stabilization and Mobilization, Shoulder Girdle Stabilization and Mobilization
  • Postural Analysis: Identification of posture disorders, exercise selection for different posture types
  • Exercises: Names and anatomical infrastructure of the exercises learned in the course.

Functional Training Specialist Exams

  • Functional Anatomy: Muscles, bones, anatomical planes, directions of motion, anatomical movements, types of contractions
  • Training Sciences: Defining fitness parameters and development methods, exercise programming
  • Equipment Usage: Movement technique with functional training equipment such as kettlebell, sandgbag etc.
  • Fitkon Academy 5 Basic Principle: Breath, Neutral Pelvis, Neutral Spine,Balance of Stabilization and Mobilization, Shoulder Girdle Stabilization and Mobilization.
  • Movement Analysis: Dynamic Posture and exercise design
  • Aerobic and Anaerobic Exercise Design: HIIT, Tabata Training etc.

2. How will my practical exam be?

In the practical exam, you will be teaching a Pilates class. Scores are based on previously determined criteria.

Duration:

  • Single exam (Example: Reformer Instructor Exam), 1 hour
  • Combined Exam (Example: Reformer, Cadillac), 1.5 Hours
  • Functional Training Specialist Exam, 1 Hour

Exam Content:

Pilates
  • 5 min. Meeting and Taking Information: Student’s exercise history, injuries and expectations will be obtained.
  • 5-10 minutes. Postural Analysis: While analyzing the posture, it is expected to be told bony landmarks and what anatomical alignment you are looking for. Example: I look at the ASIS bones from the front.  ASIS bones must be at the same level. I control if there is rotation to the right or left. The distance of the bones to my hands is the same. Result; no elevation, depression or rotation. Neutral…
  • 10 min. 5 Basic Principles: During the instruction, Cuing should be given to answer the questions What, How, Why. For example: You are teaching Neutral Pelvis. You will be answering the (how) question by cueing ‘put your heels of your hands on ASIS and fingertips on the pubis, they should be on the same horizontal plane’. You will be answering the (Why) question by saying ‘your lumbar spine also will be in neutral with less stress’. Teaching should be the same for all Principles.
  • 35- 45 minutes. Exercise Teaching: In this section, the following numbers of movements are selected and taught by considering posture analysis, sports history and injury history, if any. we will be looking your teaching skills and teaching methods that you use for scoring.

Functional Training Specialist Exam:

  • 5 min. Meeting and Taking Information: Student’s exercise history, injuries and expectations, will be obtained.
  • Movement Analysis Squat Test: Looking for if there is movement disfunction by looking from different angles.
  • 35- 45 minutes. Teaching: In this section, selected movements are taught by considering squat test, exercise and injury history. Scoring is done by looking at the teaching order and teaching methods. You are expected to have 10 moves for Level 1 and 12 for Level 2.

3. When should I take the exam?

You must take the exam within 6 months after completing any course. However, If you participate a new course within this process, this period will be extended and the date of your last training will be taken as basis for the exam date .

Example: You have attended on March 1st to Reformer Course – Exam date: No later than August 1st.

You also took Cadillac course on April 1st . The exam date will be no later than September 1 for both Reformer and Cadillac.

4. What is the passing score?

The average of passing score is 75%. It is necessary to take at least 70 from the written and written exam.

For example;

Written %70, Practical %80, Average: %75 -you passedJ

Written %65, Practical %85, Average: %75 – must re-take written exam (since written exam score is lower then %70)

To keep your information fresh you should re-take the exam(only the part with a score below %70) within 6 months.

5. What happens if I do not take the exam within the time limit?

The exam must be taken within 6 months after the training. If you pass this period,  1 hour class and overview should be taken with the Fitkon Academy Master Trainer. The purpose here is to give feedback to the person who will take the exam on the topics they need to improve.
